A Mouthful of Gravel?

It was only natural to make visible things, tangible things, measurable things my goals in life. But I was unpleasantly surprised when career, titles, awards, material possessions, and so-called success ended up tasting like gravel in my mouth. It was as if I had eaten artificial fruit that was hollow inside, devoid of lasting nourishment, just plain empty.

Today in Acts 14, Barnabus and Paul urge the crowd to “turn from these useless things” and to the One who gives us “rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
