Downside Up?

I know from personal experience that CRISIS is scary because it contains both danger and opportunity. Surely alcoholism was a crisis when it became a problem in our family, but instead of discouragement and divorce, we were led out of “Egypt” and away from The Land of Denial. I tell the hair-raising story in a book called “Whit’s End: Breakdown to Breakthrough” which describes why Denial is not just river in Egypt.

My many years in denial led me into Twelve-Step Recovery, where troubles got named and issues got faced and processed. Gradually, the vicious jaws of defeat unclenched, and I was released from the insidious effects of loving a problem drinker.
