A Willing Heart?

In the Old Testament, the LORD tells Moses to “Take from among you an offering; whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the Lord.” In the New Testament, Paul tells us that our offering is actually ourselves; that the wholly acceptable offering to God is our living sacrifice. Presenting our bodies, as empty of self as we can, is what constitutes our reasonable service (Romans 12:1-2 and John 3:30).

So, I surrender this body to God, giving Him this vessel to be filled by Him, for His purposes, not for my own. My life on earth is not supposed to be about me, myself or I. If it is, I can develop EGO (Easing God Out) and/or PVS (Perpetual Victim Syndrome (PVS), a term coined by author Julian Barnes in a wonderful book called “A History of the World in 10-1/ 2 Chapters.” More on that some other day.

Today my question is simply this: am I willing? Have I decreased the “I-Me-Myself” nature so that God’s Nature can increase in me? Am I taking my place in His orchestra to be played anyway He wants?

I am! You? Chime in if you care to share!
