God spoke to Noah after The Flood saying, “Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” Instead, the New Testament tells us, there will be fire next time.
Such claims often sound preposterous to the modern, educated mind. I, too, once murmured about the days of Noah, dismissing all warnings of future fire and fervent heat. Just so many myths, like all myths saying the same thing one way or another, thought I. But then Jesus came along, saying that human wits and wisdom carry the unwitting into wickedness and error. Mine did.
So I opened the Bible and started to listen and learn. When Jesus said (and still does), “Be ready,” my answer then (and still is) is “Ready!” This vessel of mine is sailing now by the Wind of the Spirit, and if God wants to me “come about,” I eagerly reply, “Hard a’lee!”
