Briers and Thorns?

Isaiah says the land will become briers and thorns when people despise His Word. The Lord says, “Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity and sin as if with a cart rope… Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who put darkness for light and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!” Millenia later, Jesus comes along to say that hell is real and multitudes will go there by choosing to refuse the Word of God.

What is the Word of God? The Gospel of John answers the question: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… But when the Word was made flesh, the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children God…”

Christ came to make a Way for people to escape the briers and thorns of this broken world; to go from human to holy, from corruption to incorruption, even while alive on earth, no matter what a mess it is. The Bible says that anyone who belongs to Christ abides in Him, plucked from the fray, freed from all briers and thorns. If true, this is extremely Good News. What do you think?
